Political Project
Project Reflection
The Project that I did was based around Gun Control, and how it can be looked on from two sides. The political spectrum has been split into two sides since the beginning of Gun debates. The project consisted of Jackson Vaughn and myself Ori Rehman. I went to this project from a liberal view while Jackson went at the project with a conservative view. We made a documentary to represent the middle ground of gun ownership and gun laws currently in the country. We based the middle ground answer in our video to being mental health and looking more into the person. At the exhibition, we spoke about how the middle ground is a very much possible choice in this crazy political ideal world.
Throughout the process of working with Jackson’s ideas and my own, I have shifted my thoughts toward gun control very much so. Starting with my own values I have discovered that I am much more confident in my thoughts than I ever thought before. My idea about gun control has indeed changed, but my main argument stands to be the same. While working with my partner I have learned more intensely about the other side and intends to look at the other side with better light on why they have their values. There is common ground towards safety and protection that I only thought my ideas valued, but in fact, both sides do indeed.
I have learned that with democracy comes a wide distribute of perspectives and ideas towards the common people. Though originally one side will believe that the other is only trying to destroy the beauty in the mix. They are in fact both trying to suspend their needs towards the greater good for everyone and not just their own valued morals. Democracy is a system of free will and the right to choose their own fate. The government can lean more towards a single side on the political spectrum. The people with follow the government’s choosing in laws and regulations, but they will also despise them for their own free will to do so. I have learned that the actions of two or more different sides in the country are from their own choosing to do.
My original view going into this project was that I believed that semi-automatic weaponry should not be a option in our country and that with current gun control and gun law we needed to make the system much more strict. I held strong with my opinion also believing that all others were wrong given gun-related crime over the years across the entire country like mass shootings and homicides. Working with a political opposite partner Jackson Vaughn I started believing other facts and opinions given collaborative research towards the topic. After researching over gun control regulations, and gun-related deaths over the years I found out new information that changed my opinion to semi-automatic weaponry not being the problem. This was a huge change in opinion towards my belief system.
I believe that the roles of a Rogerian argument and a willingness to be disturbed mindset could change a democracy on a mass scale. When you take two different sides and make them listen to each other's perspectives there can be a mass sense of understanding in that field. Being willing to let your judgment and your cut off attitude leave your body can enhance your capability to understand the care on not only your side but the other as well. This can define the term “for the people” on a mass scale. It all comes down to the willingness to be disturbed so you willingly can be understanding.

Food Project
“Eating is an Agricultural Act?” The Ethics of Food and Eating
The project that we decided to cover was food ethic around the country and in our own lives. We were tasked to read "The Omnivores Dilemma", and see how the agriculture is laid out in the country. The Omnivores Dilemma was a book dedicated to spreading the knowledge of industrial growing an food production. During the project in class, we would cover Sustainable food production alongside industrial food production to compare the two on feeding the world. The Omnivores dilemma was a source to educate about sustainable agriculture across the country in action.
I enjoyed studying two points of view through this project. The book shared why industrial growing is efficient in this world, and also the point that sustainable growth is a possible efficient source of food for the masses of the world. We also learned in chemistry about food and the chemical ways to create and cook it. Comparing the two classes and what we learned, I have gained knowledge of growing sufficient to feed the world, and the chemical explanation of creating food. Humanities impacted me in a way for which the food I eat can mean a lot more in knowing where it came from. Chemistry impacted me in a way where I look at food in how it is created, and why it looks and tastes the way it does.
I learned a significant amount about the idea of "food", and it's properties. My main take away from learning where food comes from, and how it is made through the country and the world. Food is the survival of the human race and how it is created means everything. Industrial can only last so long in this world, whether that be deterioration of world resources or the health of the common person. Sustainable growing can preserve a future in preserving the land and health of the human race. My thinking of food has changed drastically, and I see why sustainable growing is how we preserve our future in eating.
"Your Life on Earth" Personal Philosophy Project Reflection
The project was created to share the idea of happiness. Now, this happiness is something that can be found in your everyday surroundings and what can be created in your own hands. The project was a short video and words to speak at the All School Exhibition. The video was a short explanation of how happiness can be found not far from your reach. My inspiration on this partnership project with Jackson Vaughn was that I became happier through my high school life by seeing that everything I need is around me whether that be family, friends, hobbies, and enjoying home.
I have gathered much more knowledge on why happiness is easier to achieve that we would all originally believe, and I see why it is important for as many people as possible to realize that happiness is in your own doing. During my presentation, I chose a quote to share. "You will never be happy if you continue to search for what happiness consists of. You will never live if you are looking for the meaning of life" -Albert Camus. This quote speaks to my idea of happiness, and I believe it to be true. While working on this project I began to even see more things I should be grateful for and use to make my life more fully. I hope to spread this feeling that Jackson and myself believe to be true to not just ourselves, but to those who are spending their lives searching for more, when it is right in front of them. This is my true philosophy on happiness and even the ideal meaning in our lives.
From this project, I am left wondering about an abundance of possibilities. Though this project is only an opinion in a world of them I have seen that this source of happiness can be true for everyone. The questions that I still need to be answered are only why not everyone can see this? I do not mean those who are always in a struggle with their surroundings, but those who have the option to see this happiness and continue to waste themselves searching for more. This only questions I am left with after this research and project.
