LINK Project
During my LINK Internship, I was tasked to complete a project, and my project was the training process of a firefighter and EMS provider. I started this project from day one and finished it on my last day at the station. This project consisted of training in both the firefighter field of work, and also the training it takes to become an EMS provider in the ambulance, and on the field. On the first day, I was given a binder full of paperwork that is needed to be filled out and completed to become a firefighter, and an EMS provider. For example, for on the firefighter side, this would consist of Bunker gear drills, response time to calls, and handling hoses and ladders. Some EMS training would consist of Vital Taking, CPR, AED(Automated external defibrillator), and IV set up.
This project helped me understand the requirements for this field of work, and how important it is. There is a large amount of dedication and time that is needed to become a firefighter and EMS provider. This project took me through the process of that. This was a good opportunity to see not only the job at hand but the process to gain that job.
